Breast Cancer: How to Reduce the Risk

There are several lifestyle changes we can adopt that can directly affect our risk of getting breast cancer — and I’m a firm believer in doing everything we possibly can to reduce that risk.

Here is a list of actions you can start taking today to help your breasts live a healthier life and remain attached to you!

  • Exercise 3 times a week. This doesn’t mean buying a gym membership or training to be the next Olympic running champ. Power walking around your neighborhood every other day will do it — for 1 hour, 3 times a week. Strut your stuff and reduce your risk. And why not recruit a friend to join you?
  • Stick to a low-fat diet. This doesn’t mean giving up all sweets and treats, either. Just watch how much of them you eat and don’t partake every day. This, along with exercise (see above) will keep your weight within the desired range (which, by the way, is a crucial risk-reducer). Less weight means less body fat and, since we store estrogen in body fat, that’s less estrogen for us to be hauling around. This is a brilliant step to take because estrogen is a known promoter and nourisher of breast cancer cells, as well as of cells that are about to mutate into cancerous ones.
  • Stop smoking. Quit if you can, and steer clear of secondhand smoke, too. Believe it or not, inhaling cigarette smoke increases the estrogen levels in your bloodstream. Go figure. And research has now proven that secondhand smoke can be just as damaging to our bodies as lighting up the cancer sticks ourselves. The American Cancer Society has reported that if all tobacco products were banished today, then 80 percent of all cancers would vanish as well. Wow.
  • Limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol too can increase your risk. Are you a social drinker? That’s fine, but limit yourself to one alcoholic beverage a day or less (for a woman, that amounts to 12 oz. of beer, 6 oz. of wine, or 1 oz. of the hard stuff). Doesn’t matter what kind of liquor we’re talking about, either — beer, wine, or spirits, it’s all the same. Say “No thanks” after one drink.

This list, you’ll notice, is short but sweet. But please do pay attention to these more healthy behaviors because they are the 4 pillars of breast cancer prevention.

An ambigram, also sometimes known as an inversion, is a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. The text can also consist of a few words, and the text spelled out in the other direction or orientation is often the same, but can also be a different text. Douglas R. Hofstadter describes an ambigram as a “calligraphic design that manages to squeeze two different readings into the selfsame set of curves.”

Its really hard try to make one if you want it if you want… I made it in 1 hour.

Lindol? Lumindol Ba?

Ayon sa ulat ng mga praning na texter lalo ng mga walang magawang naka unlimited txt… suppose to be lilindol daw kagabi (05142008)… limindol nga ba? saang lugar ba? nagpakapuyat ka man at nag prepare sa pag iintay ng lindol na ulat ng mga texter at kaibigan mo… may dumating ba? sa mga taong nasa SOGO malamang lumindol ang mundo nila! pero sa mga pangkaraniwang tao na nasa boarding house tulad ko! :-( walang lindol na nangyari damn…  sa mga taong  nasa motel malamang umabot pa sila ng INTERSITY 6 to 9 depende sa tagal… kung short lang mga 6 pero pag… damn itigil na toh…  wholesome ang blog ko… sana lang itama na ng PAG-ASA yung pag lalagay ng SEISMOGRAPH nila itigil na ang pag lalagay sa ilalim ng mga kama ata hotel dahil puro false alarm lang lagi ma dedetect nila dun… and for all of the texter na naki-participate? next time itama nyo naman info nyo! sablay siguro kayo sa dilim!!! hahaha opppss damn wholesome nga pala ko…

Sarap Magbasa ng MANGA

Manga = is the Japanese word for comics (sometimes called komikku ) and print cartoons.

Nakaka addict nung una dahil nga addict din ako sa anime feeling ko bakit kailangan ko pa basahin ung comics na yun eh may anime version naman? this month lang nag bago ang pananaw ko tungkol sa manga pakiramdam ko ang tagal tagal nya nako hinihintay pero ngayun ko lang sya nasumpungan… :-) hehehe ako’y isang alibughang anak na nagbalik sa nakaraan ng pagbata na mabuklat ang libro ng manga… ang saya talaga halos natapos ko na ang mga istorya ng ilang anime na hindi itinuloy sa TV yun bang mga walang ending? minsan nga nung bata pa ko nakaka-irita yung pakiramdam na sinusubaybayan mo tapos biglang kinabukasan wala na sya.. pinalit na yung malapad na pag mumuka ni judy ann santos sa pinapanood kung anime?… tama ba naman yun?  siguro 60%  ng the best anime na napanood ko sa ABS-CBN pang umaga at pang hapon… tapos 30% sa GMA…. then 7% sa IBC… tapos 3% kung saan saan na…

Eto yung mga anime na nabasa ko na…

1. Notice What’s Right

Some of us see the glass as being half-full, while others see the glass as half-empty. The next time you are caught in traffic, begin thinking how nice it is to have a few moments to reflect on the day, focus on a problem you have been trying to solve, or brainstorm on your next big idea. The next time you get in the slow line at the grocery store, take the opportunity to pick up a tabloid magazine and do some “guilty pleasure” reading. Take all that life throws out you and reframe it with what’s right about the situation. At the end of the day, you will more content, at peace and happy. Take the time to begin to notice what’s right and see the world change in front of your eyes.

2. Be Grateful

How many times do you say the words “thank you,” in a day? How many times do you hear these same words? If you are doing the first thing, saying the “thank yous,” the latter will naturally happen. Learn to be grateful and you will be open to receive an abundance of joy and happiness.

3. Remember the Kid You Were

Do you remember how to play? I’m not referring to playing a round of golf or a set of tennis. I’m talking about playing like you did when you were a child – a game of tag; leap frog, or street baseball when the bat is a broken broom handle and the bases are the parked cars. One way to find or maintain your happiness is to remember the kid you were and play!

4. Be Kind

There is no question that by merely watching acts of kindness creates a significant elevation in our moods and increases the desire for us to perform good deeds as well. Kindness is indeed contagious and when we make a commitment to be kind to ourselves and to others we can experience new heights of joy, happiness and enthusiasm for our lives.

5. Spend Time with Your Friends

6. Savor Every Moment

To be in the moment is to live in the moment. Too often we are thinking ahead or looking ahead to the next event or circumstance in our lives, not appreciating the “here and now.” When we savor every moment, we are savoring the happiness in our lives.

7. Rest

There are times when we need the time to unwind, decompress, or to put it simply, just “to chill.” Life comes at all of us hard and fast. Time, as do the days on the calendar, keeps going forward at its own natural pace, which is not always the pace we would choose. Fatigue, stress and exhaustion may begin to settle in on us faster than we may think, or notice. The best remedy for this is indeed rest.

8. Move!

The expression a “runner’s high” does not infer an addiction, but a feeling or a state of mind – a state of euphoria. There is no question exercise, or any physical exertion, elevates your mood and enhances a more positive attitude as well as fosters better personal self-esteem and confidence. Indeed, one way to increase your happiness is to move!

9. Put on a Happy Face

Sometimes we have to fake it until we make it. I’m not suggesting that we not be honest, real or authentic, but I’m suggesting, sometimes, we just need to put on a happy face and keep moving forward. Researchers claim that smiling and looking like we are happy will indeed make us happier. Studies further show that if we act like we are happy then we can experience greater joy and happiness in our lives.

10. Pursue Your Goals

The absence of goals in our lives, or more specifically avoiding to pursue our goals, makes us feel like we are stuck and ineffective. The pursuit of goals in our personal lives, in our relationships, or with our careers, is the difference between having a mediocre life or a life full of passion and enthusiasm. pursue your goals and watch your happiness soar.

11. Finding Your Calling

Some find meaning in religion or spirituality while others find purpose in their work or relationships. Finding your calling may be much more than accomplishing one simple strategy for increasing your happiness, but having a sense of purpose – of feeling like you are here for a reason – can perhaps bring the greatest joy of all

12. Get into the Flow

Flow is the form of joy, excitement and happiness that occurs when we are so absorbed in an activity we love that we can loose ourselves and time seems to stand still. What creates flow is unique to each one of us. To find and sustain true happiness in our lives, we must get off the sidelines and get into the flow.

13. Play to Your Strengths

One way to achieve flow is by understanding and identifying our strengths and core values, and then begin to use these every day. Once we aware of our strengths and we begin to play to your strengths we can better incorporate them in all aspects of our lives.

14. Don’t Overdo It

Know when to say when. What gives you joy and happiness the first time may not work the second time. Too much of a good thing may begin not to feel as good if the “thing” becomes more of a routine, or an expectation. Set healthy and reasonable boundaries for yourself and don’t overdo it.

Oo summer na at parang nadagdagan nanaman ang matatamis na ngiti ni haring araw.. tuwang tuwa sya pag masdan tayo habang nag bubutil ang pawis at hinihimatay sa init ang ilan sa atin… hep! hep! hindi lang yan plus minsan may kasamang ulan yan sa hapon ang saya ang sakit sa ulo pag di ba naman talaga tumulo ang uhog mo sa ilong nyan ewan ko nalang… kaya dapat lahat tayo mag ingat mga kababayan kain tayo ng masusustansya para hindi magkasakit!!! anu bang masusustansyang pagkain ang mabibili ng isang tipikal na pamilyang pilipino? YES!!! nakauha mo!!! ang talino mo talaga e di yung Noodles na PAYLESS yung beef flavor para masarap hindi ganung maalat ang fortified with different kind of vitamins? daw yun at syempre many preservatives hahaha!!! pag sinuswerte ka e di LUCKY ME!!! pag di ba naman tayo sumaya nun ewan ko nalang… at pag mayaman ka e di anu pa NISSIN… nissingkong duleng wala kang mabibili lalot mayaman ka sa utang… (tulad ko hehehe)

Ang masakit dun kasabay ni Mr.Araw sa pag taas ang mga bilihin dito sa pinas!!! talaga naman iniisip ko nga eh pag masmataas na kaya sa araw ang presyo ng bigas tatawagin kaya natin ang araw na SUN-RICE? o kaya naman pag ang gas ang tumaas sa araw tatawagin natin syang LANGI-SUN? at syempre kasabay nito ang pag baba ng sweldo ng mga tao na tatawagin natin UBU-SUN ng pera!!! na pag nahawakan mo ang isang buwang sweldo mo minuto lang ang magdadaan mapapatanong ka ng NA-SUN?? sweldo ko? hay nako pag dika ba naman nag nakaroon ng HYPERTEN-SUN!!!, pagod kana sa trabaho at masakit katawan ni hindi kana makabili ng ALAK-SUN dahil kulang na… Pero ok lang yan kahit anung hirap likas na masiyahan ang mga pilipino kahit init na init na ok lang.. kahit may sakit ok lang… tatawanan lang nyan ang problemang darating… tawa lang tawa tawa tawa tawa tawa wala naman tayo ibang magagawa eh.. kaya tawa pa tawatawatawatawatawa gayahin natin ang matamis na ngiti ni sum merwisyo!!!! sheet of paper ang banas sa pilipinas!!!
